2001 Annual Meeting Minutes
The Annual Meeting of the West Park Community Association was called to order at 7:36PM on 7 November 2001 by President Karl Kraus. There were 26 members present.
Minutes from the November 2000 Annual Meeting were read by Mary Jo Yglesias and some questions on the Masonite Class Action Suit were proposed. Discussion ensued. Motion to accept the minutes as written was proposed and passed.
TREASURER'S REPORT
The Treasurer's Report was presented by Kim Bloomquist. Some discussion occurred regarding placement of WPCA funds in a 12-month CD. The Board will consider this to ensure maximum return and complete liquidity. Motion to accept budget as proposed was accepted.
OLD BUSINESS
The issue of the sidewalk along Sideburn power station to Braddock Road was discussed. Karl Kraus stated that the project was accepted by the County nearly two years ago and is still on the County's docket, but has not begun due to higher priorities and a shortage of funds.
NEW BUSINESS
- A request was made to have Dominion Power look at the overgrown trees surrounding the power station and trim/remove as needed
- Covenants: A motion was made and accepted to examine and possibly update the original WPCA Covenants and By-Laws. Assembly was reminded that any change in the Covenants requires a 75% favorable response [sic] the WPCA members. The Board agreed to study the matter for feasibility and courses of action ranging from a rewrite to a redrafting of the current set in electronic form.
- Motion to set aside $2000 for the repair of the common area semi-circle path (asphalt) was made and passed, resting upon investigation as to the actual cost of said repair.
- Proposal was made to query residents regarding trash collection companies. The Association is looking at a single hauler for the whole Community Association. Discussion ensued. A motion was accepted to send out a flier to the Community to seek response on the issues at hand regarding trash service. A member (in absentia) offered to undertake this action. Due to the fact that it is a matter of choice, the Board stated that they will not prescribe any outcome or force the WPCA to a single hauler as there was not unanimous consent from members in attendance.
- The President urged the Community to please shovel walks in inclement weather and to keep vegetation that overgrows sidewalks trimmed so as to not impede travel.
NOMINATIONS FOR 2002 BOARD
Irene Pierce will step down as Member-at-Large. Irene was recognized for her commendable service. Marty Robinson was elected as the new Member-at-Large. The rest of the Board was renominated to remain for another year (Karl Kraus - President, Mo Moses - V.P[sic], Kim Bloomquist - Treasurer, Mary Jo Yglesias - Secretary.)[sic] Motion was passed and accepted.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:41PM.
